Dune

$200.00
Sold

Dune, by Frank Herbert. Philadelphia: Chilton, 1965. Book Club Edition.

Frank Herbert’s Dune is the best-selling Science Fiction novel of all time. A fantastic political drama of intergalactic proportions, its story unfolds as the ruling families that govern the great planets of the Imperium must vie for power amidst an unprecedented paradigm shift. The stewardship of Arrakis (Dune), the only planet where the known universe’s single most valuable commodity (the spice melange) can be harvested, is stripped from House Harkonnen and handed over to House Atreides. But the responsibility is more of a death sentence than a gift, and the Atreides clan must quickly adapt to their strange and unforgiving new planet if they are to have any hope of survival. Dune was the winner of the first ever Nebula Award for Best Science Fiction Novel and the co-winner of the Hugo Award. It has had an immeasurable impact on speculative fiction for nearly sixty years, with notable influence on such iconic stories as Star Wars, Star Trek, and A Song of Ice and Fire. It has also been an inspirational work for multiple film directors, from Alejandro Jodorowsky to David Lynch, and most recently Denis Villeneuve.

A near fine copy in a very good jacket. Corners sharp. Pages clean throughout. Crease to spine and some wear to extremities of jacket, now protected in archival mylar.
