I, Robot

$50.00
Sold

I, Robot by Isaac Asimov. New York: Signet Books, 1956. First paperback edition, first printing.

The ten stories that make up I, Robot were originally published from 1940-1950 in Astounding Science Fiction and Super Science Stories. Told from the perspective of Dr. Susan Calvin, the top expert in robopsychology, each story is a compelling examination of ethics in the face of technological advancement, particularly in artificial intelligence. As a compilation, however, they tell a larger story of Asimov’s envisioned history of robotics.

The first book to feature Asimov’s proposed Three Laws of Robotics, I, Robot is a cornerstone of twentieth-century Science Fiction, and a must for any Sci-Fi collection.

Signet S1282, stated “First printing, March 1956” on copyright page; no indication of later printings. Wrappers clean with very minimal shelf wear, some wear and creasing to spine. Front hinge fragile, but firmly intact. A very good collectible copy.
